MUPASI
This record is the result of a seven-year collaborative journey between Day Vidya and Nicky Balachandran, held as a safe container for deep listening, self-inquiry, grief work, and spiritual remembrance. The music was not created for performance or trend, but as a lived practice — a place to question reality, soften the nervous system, and return to what is essential.
Mupasi is a truly intergenerational work.
Day’s family is woven into the fabric of the album:
A profound voice note from his mother, recorded shortly before her passing, lives inside the record — grief transformed into presence.
A beautiful trumpet composition by his father carries ancestral breath and lineage.
His sister’s voice appears on the track “Sincerity,” offering intimacy, truth, and tenderness.
The album moves through a wide emotional and sonic spectrum — from energetic and expansive to quiet, mellow, and deeply reflective — grounded overall in a downtempo, ceremonial listening experience. This is healing music created first for ourselves, to express the invisible, reconnect with ancestors, and allow what needed to be felt to move through the body.
The visual documentation of this process was captured by Caleb Vinson, whose approach honors the moment without interference — revealing the unseen layers of creation, the intimacy of the studio, and the integration of years of shamanic and spiritual work.
Mupasi is not just an album — it is a milestone in a shared creative journey, a living prayer, and an offering for anyone called to listen with presence.
